Keiko Fujimori’s Defining Choice in Peru By Michael Reid Americas Quarterly

The Editor: Update of elections in Peru. Keiko Fujimori, Popular Front, is in the lead by a fraction of votes (50.051%) in an election that has had her winning, then losing, now winning against Roberto Sanchez (49.949%), Together for Peru. Peru has had a rocky journey with its Presidential outcomes, with 10 Presidents in the last 10 years, a majority removed from office through impeachment or charges of corruption.

The political world is looking at Keiko Fujimori and wondering if she will resort to govern like her father, Alberto Fijumori, on the same scale of Pinochet of Chile, or will work to reconcile the political differences of Peru.
