Yet, it has also meant 14 years of living from one renewal to the next, never knowing when a court decision might strip these protections away.

Unprecedented delays are causing people to lose their jobs, income, and status.¹ Furthermore, ongoing litigation threatens the right to work for DACA recipients in Texas.² Court rulings are increasingly putting DACA recipients at risk of detention and deportation—even with valid status. We know of at least 340 detentions and 90 deportations.

DACA has protected over 800,000 people from deportation, keeping millions of families together—including more than 250,000 U.S. citizen children with parents who have DACA. The average recipient arrived as a child and has lived here for decades; we have careers, families, and deep roots in our communities.³ Against this backdrop, renewing DACA remains the strongest form of protection.
