Patricia,

Native sovereignty requires voting rights, equal access to representation and respect for the US Constitution. That's why, yesterday, we joined with activists and everyday people in Montgomery, Alabama at the All Roads Lead to the South national day of action to demand a truly multiracial democracy.

Across Turtle Island, people rallied against the Supreme Court’s recent Louisiana v. Callais ruling, which has dismantled a core protection of the Voting Rights Act, giving state legislators a green light to aggressively redraw districts for everything from Congress to state legislature districts, local city councils, and school boards.

Let's keep the momentum from this national day of action going. Write to your members of Congress now and demand they pass the Fair Representation Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore and expand the Voting Rights Act's protections and ensure our right to a multiracial democracy.

SIGN AND SEND

Our partners at the Native American Rights Fund and the National Congress of American Indians spoke out against SCOTUS's recent ruling, saying:

“This decision mocks our shared democratic principles and will have a direct impact on people’s lives… Native American communities and other voters of color continue to face unique and unreasonable obstacles to voting and having their votes count.”

This is a moment for all of us to speak up for everyone's right to have equal access to voting and representation in government, and for the multi-racial democracy our descendants deserve.

There will be more attempts to derail our voting power in the months ahead. We’re ready for them. We’re ready because we know that organizing together with you, we’re unstoppable.

Hawwih (thank you) for everything you do to fortify Native grassroots political power.
