Patricia,
Our relatives at NDN Collective and the Black Hills Clean Water Alliance put out an urgent call to action, asking people to contact the U.S. Forest Service, which just issued a permit to drill at the ceremonial site Pe’sla in the sacred Black Hills National Forest.
We must stop this deal from going through. We must protect our waters and lands from toxic drilling, and defend Tribal sovereignty and treaty rights. Please sign and send a message now.
SEND MESSAGENDN Collective points out that:
“Pe’sla shares a watershed with the Pactola reservoir – 20,000 acres of land and water that in 2024, then-U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland signed legislation protecting from all mining efforts for 20 years.
Haaland’s decision was the result of years of NDN Collective’s advocacy and community organizing; work with tribes, local officials and the U.S. Forest Service; and a successful effort alongside partner organizations to gather nearly 2,000 public comments supporting the mineral withdrawal.”
We must protect our waters, lands, and all living beings from toxic drilling. Click here to send your message right away.
Hawwih (
thank you) for taking action today. Together we will continue defending Tribal sovereignty, sacred places, and Mother Earth.
