In recent months, ICE and CBP have detained nearly 300 DACA recipients and deported close to 90 of them. These are caring parents, neighbors, teachers, and essential workers who strengthen our communities in countless ways.
As the number of detained DACA recipients escalates, many of our neighbors across the country are also experiencing DACA renewal delays, and thousands more in Texas are at risk of losing their work authorization.
We are facing the most dangerous moment in DACA’s 14-year-history, but our power cannot be ignored. We’ve built our entire families, homes, and careers in this country. Our Home is Here.
Today, join our Home is Here National Day of Action to demand our members of Congress stand against the administration’s mass efforts to weaken the DACA program.
Juan, JeanCarlos, Ya’akub, and Maria are a few of our DACA recipient neighbors who have been targeted by ICE. We need to have their backs. ✍️
Will you demand Congress deliver the immediate release and return of all DACA recipients who have been wrongfully detained or deported and pass a pathway to citizenship for the millions left vulnerable to these attacks?START WRITING
👉 Juan Chavez Velasco was detained during a traffic stop while trying to deliver milk to his newborn daughter. His DACA lapsed due to delays, and he remains in ICE custody in Laredo.
👉 JeanCarlos Fiallos Manzanares remains in detention at the Otero Detention Center in New Mexico since last summer, despite having valid DACA protections. He has lived in the U.S. for over 30 years and is his family’s sole provider. For months, he has been separated from his wife and children.
👉 Ya’akub Vijandre was detained after ICE revoked his DACA status over social media posts. He is a photojournalist who often covers human rights, civil liberties, and local community issues. ICE arrested him at gunpoint outside his apartment in Arlington, Texas. His detention shows how DACA recipients have been targeted and detained for exercising their First Amendment rights.
These stories highlight a harmful pattern of federal immigration agents going after DACA recipients and immigrant youth in aggressive, unlawful ways. Our communities must stand united until Juan, JeanCarlos, Ya’akub, and all of our immigrant neighbors are safely reunited with their loved ones.
Will you join our Home is Here National Day of Action and call on your members of Congress to end the detention of DACA recipients and deliver bold protections to prevent future disappearances?
