United We Dream - ⏰ TONIGHT: Join our Immigrant Day of Resilience Celebration!

Who are you honoring today on Immigrant Day of Resilience? ๐Ÿงก

Every year, on April 15, we celebrate Immigrant Day of Resilience to honor the courage that runs deep in our immigrant community. In the challenging moment we face, Immigrant Day of Resilience reminds us that our strength comes from one another. Our existence as immigrants, children of immigrants, and stewards of justice and peace, is resistance. ✊

This year, we’ve stood united in the face of unimaginable hardship. Every action we’ve taken together — from writing letters to our neighbors in detention to bringing our community together to organize and build a better future — is a testament to the resilience that runs through our veins.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Who is an immigrant loved one whose resilience has inspired you this year? Let us know when you sign up to tonight’s “Live, Laugh, Organize: Immigrant Day of Resilience” Community Call.

Tonight, we’re joining forces w/ the Alliance to Reclaim our Schools, May Day Strong, Alliance for Educational Justice, Dream Defenders, Power in Numbers, and the Sunrise Movement. Join us at 6:30 pm ET/ 5:30 pm CT for this mass celebration, featuring an exclusive stand-up set from Che Guerrero and a limited edition “Together, We Are Power” Sticker! ๐ŸŒŸ

⏰ RSVP NOW

Even as attacks against our community have intensified, we are proud of who we are. We are proud of the color of our skin, the accent on our tongues, and the strength and courage of our parents and grandparents who traversed countries and oceans for us.

Today, join us in honoring the decades-long fight our existence represents. We invited our community to share the name of an immigrant loved one to honor this Immigrant Day of Resilience. ๐Ÿงก Check out some of the responses from your neighbors across the country:

  • ๐Ÿ—ฃ️ “My grandfather who immigrated from his small village in India in 1971. Although the journey was difficult to get to the place he is at now, he is a successful retired businessman and engineer.” - Karishma

  • ๐Ÿ—ฃ️ “I want to honor my mother because April 15 is her birthday, and I’m attending this event in her honor. She crossed the border as a single mom of 4 and she endured so much pain and trauma to give us a better life. She had to leave back to Mexico when I was 18 and I have been alone since, but I continue to fight for my community to remind her that all her sacrifices were not for nothing.” - Ana

  • ๐Ÿ—ฃ️ “I want to honor the story of my entire family. Guided by courage and love, they found their home here and nothing should take home away from anyone.” - Rodney

There’s still time to honor your immigrant loved ones at our community call tonight! Let us know who you’re honoring when you sign up to our community call.

I hope to see you tonight at our Immigrant Day of Resilience Community Call to celebrate all that we’ve overcome and everything that we’re still building together. ✊Come learn how to join thousands of your neighbors in taking peaceful action on May Day!

See you there,

Matias and the UWD team
