Patricia, Donald Trump continues to escalate a dangerous conflict with Iran despite claiming he’s negotiated a ceasefire. The truth is the president started this illegal war without consent from Congress or the support of the majority of people in this country. In the past month, the U.S. and Israeli governments have committed thousands of war crimes in Iran and Lebanon. It’s beginning to spiral out of control and into even more mass violence, or worse -- as Trump publicly threatened the destruction of an “entire civilization” if he didn’t get his way. We have lived through the cost of unchecked military powers before. For hundreds of years our ancestors fought against military attacks that forced us off our land, attempted to strip us of our culture and languages, and destroyed our sacred spaces. Abroad, years of attacks on sovereign countries have drained resources, destabilized regions, and left families to carry the burden while political leaders failed to act. With the war in Iran, the warning signs are clear. If Congress does not act immediately, this will expand into another prolonged and devastating war. The conflict may even expand to a worldwide war and the use of nuclear weapons destroying Mother Earth for generations to come. Congress has the authority to stop Trump’s war in Iran before this conflict grows further out of control. Tell Congress we demand a permanent ceasefire now. CONTACT CONGRESS Polling shows that nearly 60% of people oppose this war. That is a strong majority demanding a different path forward rooted in diplomacy and political solutions. Instead, congressional leaders are allowing or driving this war forward while our communities pay the price. While billions are spent mobilizing the military to kill civilians and violate other countries’ sovereignty, families at home are feeling the impact through rising gas prices and higher food costs. Public pressure is how movements stop illegal wars. We must compel Congress to step up, assert its authority, and prevent this situation from turning into another endless war. Demand that Congress support a permanent ceasefire, check Trump’s war powers, and act immediately to stop the war on Iran by sending your message now.
