IMMIGRATION PROTESTS ERUPT ACROSS CALIFORNIA, TEXAS,
OREGON
Thousands of
demonstrators gathered in Southern California, Texas, and Oregon on Sunday to
voice their opposition to President Donald Trump’s proposed mass
deportations. In what became a show of
defiance against the administration’s controversial immigration policies,
protesters filled the streets of major cities, with many waving Mexican flags
and holding signs condemning Trump’s approach to immigration. TRADE WARS: TARIFFS SLAPPED ON MEXICO, CANADA
President Donald
Trump is moving forward with his controversial plan to impose tariffs on
imports from key trading partners, escalating trade tensions and raising
questions about the impact on U.S. consumers. On Saturday, Trump signed
an executive order that imposes a 25% tariff on imports from both Mexico and
Canada, alongside a 10% duty on goods from China. Energy resources from
Canada, however, will face a lower tariff rate of 10%. These new tariffs are
set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on Tuesday, though there is no clear
timeline for when they might be lifted or reduced. WILL YOU HELP SUPPORT CHICANO MEDIA?

The Mexican American War is one of the defining moments
in the history of the United States, and yet one of the most misunderstood. Almost 200 years after
the fact, and five generations later, it still causes pridefulness,
resentment or apathy, depending on the side you´re talking with. But even the most
indifferent on both sides of the border has something to say about this
historic war. EL PASO GEARS UP FOR GRAND OPENING OF MEXICAN AMERICAN
CENTER
El Paso is set
to open the doors to its highly anticipated Mexican American Cultural Center
(MACC) on March 22, offering a new space to celebrate and honor the city's
Mexican American heritage. The MACC is the result of
the 2012 Quality-of-Life Bond, which was overwhelmingly supported by voters.
With a budget of nearly $16 million, the project is being led by the City’s
Capital Improvement Department. TRUMP MOVES TO REVOKE STATUS OF BIDEN-ERA MIGRANTS
The Trump
administration is set to revoke the legal status of thousands of
migrants who entered the U.S. under a program launched by President Biden, a
move that could affect over 530,000 individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua,
and Venezuela, according to internal government documents. The proposal, revealed in
an unpublished notice, seeks to terminate a Biden-era policy that allowed
migrants from these four Latin American countries to legally enter the U.S.
through a sponsorship program. MEXICAN STARTUP TURNS PLASTIC TO FUEL
A Mexican
startup is tackling the Gulf Coast city of Boca del RÃo’s plastic waste
problem by turning trash into fuel. With less than 10% of
global plastic being recycled, Petgas is pioneering a method that transforms
discarded plastics into gasoline, diesel, and other fuels. The company has developed
a machine that uses pyrolysis, a process that breaks down plastic using high
heat in an oxygen-free environment, to convert waste into usable energy. RESERVATIONS CONFIRMED: NOW STREAMING AT DAILY CHELA TV
