for Wisdom Through Art Project’

in our Quest for Wisdom course saw that George Yepes' magnificent and detailed
drawings helped them trace a new pathway and hope for wisdom in their
lives."

Due to
enthusiastic response and input from faculty and students in “Quest for Wisdom:
Aesthetic, Moral and Religious Experiences in the Art of Living in Perilous
Times” course at Harvard, George Yepes
has been asked to draw and paint key elements of the course into a Mesoamerican
4- sided stelae format. This new approach reflects the course’s commitment to
seeking wisdom through multiple cultural pathways including Judeo-Christian,
Buddhist, Shinto, African American, Chicanx, Persian, Feminist traditions.
Readings include John Phillip Santos, Toni Morrison, Bashō, Sa’di, Woolf,
Kleinman, Carrasco, Paulsell, Hadot, Confucious, Sherman, Cisneros.
This expands the Yepes/Carrasco collaboration as they
move through the fabled labyrinth with students seeking to find the centers,
the secrets, the truths about what really matters in our perilous times. Keep
eyes open…”

The “Cheech Collects” exhibition at The Cheech Art Museum
is open from Saturday, June 17, 2023 through Sunday, May 12, 2024.
The Cheech Art Museum • 3581 Mission Inn Avenue,
Riverside, CA is the Worldwide home of Chicano Art: The 61,420-square-foot
Cheech Art Museum is the “Center of Chicano Art and Culture” and houses
hundreds of paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculptures by artists
featuring George Yepes, Patssi Valdez, Carlos Almaraz, Frank Romero, Judithe
Hernández, Gronk, John Valadez, and Gilbert “Magú” Luján. In its first year
2022-2023, The Cheech art Museum exceeded its annual attendance goal with over
130,000 visitors, including over 10,000 students and school tours. The
"Cheech Collects" exhibition offers 90 artworks by 40 artists drawn
from Cheech Marin’s gift of more than 500 artworks to the Riverside Art Museum.
