Endorsements of National LULAC Candidates in the Convention of the National Assembly

The Editor: The Editor has consulted with several leaders in LULAC regarding the candidacy of the persons who are running for National LULAC Offices in this Saturday's upcoming Convention of the LULAC National Assembly.  After much thought and consideration, the Editor makes the endorsements denoted with an "*" on the respective name lines as they appear below.  The Editor's comments on each candidate are limited, so let me start with Domingo Garcia for the office of National President.  LULAC has been waiting for a Domingo Garcia to take LULAC into new arenas.  With Domingo Garcia, LULAC, hopefully, will be a more active civil rights organization at a time when being Brown is under attack.  Domingo Garcia will now have a national platform, let us all join LULAC hands and help Domingo Garcia take LULAC into new horizons.  Let's help him make LULAC a greater Latino organization, a million person strong organization, very possible in a pool of 56 million Latinos.  Domingo Garcia is committed to our nation's immigrant community, and why not, since we collectively are the children of immigrants.  He is committed to thrust LULAC into the forefront battles for better housing, better healthcare, better education in the classroom and through educational financing to prepare our children for better jobs and better business opportunities.  Adelante con Domingo Garcia!

Lourdes Galvan is an incumbent running unopposed for the office of VP for Women.

Joel Lehi Organista is running for the office of VP for Youth.  His campaign is one of the better energized campaigns we have seen in LULAC.

Andres Rodriguez  is running for VP for Young Adults.  He has a an impressive LULAC mentoring story that should propel him into more things LULAC in time to come.

Alicia Rios is an incumbent running for VP for the Elderly.  She was brought into to office by President Roger Rocha at a time of need.  She was there when LULAC called on her, now its our turn to support her in her time of need.

Pablo Martinez is running for Treasurer.  Pablo Martinez has a long honorable history with LULAC, in New Mexico and nationally.  Pablo would give LULAC good financial guidance in the management of LULAC's financial house.

Gabriel Rosales is an incumbent running unopposed for the position of VP for the Southwest.

Joe Henry is an incumbent running for re-election for the office of VP for the Midwest.  Jose Henry has provided LULAC with a strong voice in the Midwest region of the country.

David Hernandez is an incumbent running for the office of VP for the Farwest.  David Hernandez represents LULAC in a battleground region for Latinos.

Yvonne Quinones, former State Director of Puerto Rico, is running for VP of the Southeast.  At a time of great need that Puerto Rico has with it's devastating hurricanes, LULAC needs a real person representative in a region that demands national attention.

Ralina Cardona Lizari, a former State Director for New York, is running for the office of VP for the NE.  Ralina Cardona Lizardi can bring her organizing talents at the state level to a region that has a promising future for LULAC.
