United We Dream - ๐Ÿ‘‰ Learn about our last training (& how to join the next one)

When we say the future we need is within reach, we mean it. And our latest training in New York is proof of it!

We’re living under turbulent conditions that have forced us into a state of survival. Our families are struggling to put food on the table, our DACA recipient friends are losing their jobs as a result of long renewal delays, and our immigrant neighbors are being targeted for detention and deportation everyday.

Yet, because we know these are not the conditions we’re meant to live in, young people are showing up and putting in the work to build a future that protects us all. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿงก

“Strategic thinking is a muscle you have to use to keep. It’s important that organizers (like me!) learn how to think strategically to be able to meet our neighbors where they’re at and use our resources and power to make real change.” - Fatima, a young organizer from Texas

☝️๐Ÿ“ธ Just last month, we gathered in New York to sharpen our organizing skills, learn how to use our power strategically, and master telling our stories like only WE can.

We had small group discussions, connected with one another by sharing the personal ties that brought us into the movement, and gathered skills that we’ll bring back into our own communities.

Truth is, you don’t have to be a seasoned organizer like Fatima to start building change in your community. Almost every single movement in history has been supported by the creativity and resilience of young people. We have the utmost power to change the conditions we’re facing, and it all begins with bringing our friends and neighbors together for a common purpose.

From now until June 15 (the 14th anniversary of the DACA program), we’re gathering in letter-writing parties around the country to demand a pathway to citizenship that keeps our families and communities safe. ๐Ÿ“ฌ And, you can be part of building pressure on our members of Congress by hosting your own letter-writing gathering in Houston!

Will you join us at our “Letters for Our Neighbors” Community Call on Tuesday, May 19, at 6:30 pm ET to learn how to host your own gathering?

“All of your experiences, ideas, and words are valid. As long as you care and you’re in our space - you will always have a community and place to grow your skills.” -Ximena, an organizer in New York

Right now, our future is being decided by people in power who don’t care about us. But, it’s up to us to reclaim it. We must pool our unique skills and talents together to secure the future we’ve always envisioned for ourselves and our communities. There’s a seat at the table waiting for you if only you’re willing to say yes to community!

๐Ÿ‘‰ So, will I see you at our “Letters for Our Neighbors” Community Call on Tuesday, May 19, at 6:30 pm ET to be part of demanding a pathway to citizenship that protects our communities?

In unity,

Matias and the UWD team
