Earlier this month, we shared the story of Olivia, a single mother and fourth-grade teacher who applied for DACA renewal in November 2025. Her work permit expired while she waited. She was put on unpaid leave, and her students — including those with special needs — have gone without her for weeks as her family struggles to pay bills with no income.
Unfortunately, Olivia's story is not unique. Right now, families are struggling to keep the lights on, put food on the table, and make ends meet. Thousands of DACA recipients like Olivia are losing their jobs as a result of USCIS processing delays, and federal agents are detaining and deporting DACA recipients despite their active DACA status.
At the same time, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) programs are also being weakened, asylum processes are being blocked and delayed, and refugee resettlement is being slashed. One by one, officials are dismantling the protections many families have relied on for decades.
Closing our fundraising gap means we can keep organizing to stop these mass delegalization and mass deportation efforts.
It means we can continue doing the work to protect DACA recipients, meet with Members of Congress to push for a pathway to citizenship, and give witness testimony on the Senate floor.
