Patricia,
Under the leadership of former Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, Native peoples won historic co-management agreements between Tribes and the federal government of our so-called public lands.
In co-managing public lands, the starting point is rooted in traditional Indigenous knowledge and values, seeing the planet not as an empty lot to be developed or exploited, but as a sacred landscape, with water and resources to be managed and protected for the benefit of all life in the present and all future generations.
But, under Donald Trump’s executive order, Unleashing American Energy, he is seeking to sell our public lands to greedy, polluting fossil fuel corporations, often ignoring established environmental stewardship practices and without consulting Tribes. And now he’s nominated a former U.S. Representative and oil-and-gas executive, who has a track record that aligns with Trump’s goals, to lead the Bureau of Land Management. He wants ‘Sell-Off Steve’ to lead the agency that is the largest land manager in the U.S.
The U.S. Senate is preparing to vote on Trump’s nominee, and they need to hear from us today.
Write to your U.S. Senators and urge them to reject Steve Pearce’s nomination to lead the Bureau of Land Management and stop ‘Sell-Off Steve’ from selling away our future.
SIGN & SENDHawwih (thank you in Caddo) for demanding a future where our public ancestral lands can thrive under co-management agreements rooted in traditional Indigenous values, not one driven by corporate profits and greed.
