*The Ethnic and Women's Studies Department in the College
of** Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) at California State Polytechnic
University,
Pomona* (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a
tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall
2015. We seek a candidate with expertise
in African American Studies. Preferences
will be given to candidates with specializations, but not restricted, in the
following areas: diaspora, critical prison studies, research
methodologies, critical race theories, comparative social movements, cultural
productions and/or performance, labor, education, digital and social media,
queer/LGBT, gender, immigration, and multiracial/hybrid identities. The candidates will be expected to teach
courses in their field of specializations, as well as additional EWS
courses. In addition, the candidates
should have the ability to teach comparative courses, integrate multiple
disciplinary cultural and global perspectives, and incorporate educational
technology in their teaching and professional activities. Candidates should also be committed to
working with the campus cultural and gender centers and with diverse urban
student populations.

The Position
The faculty members will teach undergraduate classes in
the Ethnic and Women's Studies Department.
The position requires a proven record of teaching (minimum of two
years), professional and scholarly achievements, and a commitment to service to
the university. Applicants whose work
incorporates a global perspective and a commitment to diversity in higher
education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements
- An earned
doctorate in Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American
Studies,
Humanities, Social Sciences, Gender/Women's Studies, or other
related field
from an accredited university by September 2014;
- Ability to teach
comparative courses, integrate multiple disciplinary
cultural and
global perspectives;
- Two years
university teaching experience;
- Demonstrated
commitment to working with the campus cultural and gender
centers and with
diverse urban student populations.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Preference
will be given to candidates who demonstrate success in
critical/interactive pedagogical practices;

Specializations, but not restricted, in the areas of diaspora,

- Evidence of
scholarly potential (conference presentations,
publications,

with educational technology.

Application Procedure
A completed application will consist of:
- a cover letter
describing the candidate's teaching experience,
research
interests, and teaching philosophy that address the duties and
qualifications
articulated in the position description;
- a curriculum
vitae comprised of at least those elements specified on
the application
form and including the names, titles, addresses, and
telephone
numbers of at least five individuals who can speak to the
candidate's
potential for success in this position;
- a sample
course syllabus;
- a completed
application form (
- a transcript
showing highest degree earned (an official transcript
will be required
of finalists); and
- three recently
signed letters of reference (within the last two years).
The position is open until filled. First consideration
will be given to completed applications received no later than November 14,
2014. Early response is encouraged and
