Native Organizers Alliance - Native peoples are organizing across Turtle Island

Native Organizers Alliance Logo

Patricia,

Across Turtle Island, Native peoples are organizing, raising buffalo herds, leaning into our traditional teachings, and building grassroots political power.

From the Navajo Nation to the Hopi reservation to the Blackfeet Nation to Pueblo Tribes in Albuquerque, Native peoples joined millions to declare that democracy is Indigenous, No Kings on Turtle Island.

We have lived here since before the United States even existed. We have called these lands home and governed our nations since time immemorial. Time and time again we have overcome attempts to eliminate our belief systems, nationhood, and remove us from our land.

We are re-indigenizing public lands to challenge attempts to eradicate us and our history.

The movement that we are building across Turtle Island to protect democratic governance and structures must include the sovereign right of Tribal Nations and Native communities to make decisions about land and resources. This includes the right to co-manage ancestral lands with the federal government, in accordance with traditional Native teachings about sustainable land management and biodiversity.

We’ve worked with Tribes to secure co-governance agreements with the federal government. Co-governance incorporates traditional Indigenous knowledge and values, which see the planet not as an empty lot to be developed or exploited, but as a sacred landscape -- with water and resources to manage and protect for the benefit of all life in the present and all future generations.

Together, we’ll keep building an inclusive multiracial democracy where everyone who calls these lands home can thrive.

Donate to Native Organizers Alliance today to keep building Native political power and organize against violations of Tribal sovereignty.
