Confirmed presenters for another critically important session will add considerable value to the substantive quality and quantity of information HSI attendees will receive.
As Hispanic Serving Institutions, we’re keeping our focus on the “Serving” dimension in the designation we all share.
Dr. Sandy Lopez has developed a school of thought titled “Serving with Purpose: Applying the Critical Undocumented Servingness Framework”, which she will present together with Emmanuel Lopez. She has over 30 years of experience at Northern Illinois University serving students, staff, faculty and school business officials. Her career experience includes elementary school teacher, academic advisor, teaching consultant, administrator and, most importantly, as a mentor and student advocate. She currently serves as director of the Undocumented Student Resource Center.
Emmanuel Lopez is the director of the Latinx Resource Center and the Undocumented Student Liaison at Governors State University, where he leads efforts to build belonging, support, and success for Latino students through programming, mentorship and advocacy. He has been recognized nationally as one of the “30 Under 30” Latino professionals by Hispanic Executive and is also a recipient of HACU’s “40 Under 40” award for his leadership and commitment to equity in higher education.
We look forward to having many of our past participants in attendance representing all Hispanic Serving Institutions in our Midwest region – including Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. |
