Dear Friends,
If you have never attended a Battle of Medina Symposium this is an
opportunity you should not miss. Some people say that it is the same old stuff,
but not true. For twelve years I have been a speaker and this year I will be
making some new major announcements. On Saturday August 18th at 10 AM we will be having
a rifle salute at the old tree on Bruce and Applewhite Road to honor the
American Volunteers, Tejanos and Native Americans that fought and died for the
Independence of Texas. The battle was fought between the rag tag Republican
Army of the North consisting of 1400 men against a well trained well
disciplined Spanish Army of 1830 men and it was a fight to the last man. No
mercy would be given and none would be asked. The site is located off of the
Old Pleasanton Road and signs will direct you to the site.
The Symposium will begin at 1 PM at the old red school house in
Leming on Hi 281 South just south of Old Pleasanton Road. This event is brought
to you by the Atascosa County Historical Society and you should go to their web
site for more details.
