The Editor: The LULAC National Institute (LNI) cancelled it's meeting today after a fight among the members of the Institute Board regarding the role of Margaret Moran on the Institute Board. A the meeting opened, Moran, acting as Presiding Officer based on her status of National President, asked that her agenda be approved. Her agenda included making a series of appointments by the LNI. Members of the LNI challenged her on her agenda, a agenda that she did not present to the Board until the meeting started. The issue raised against Moran was her role on the NLI Board given her being termed out and not being a properly elected member of anything. She insisted that her parliamentarian had ruled that the Bexar County court order gave her status quo standing to serve as National LULAC President and thus serve on the LNI Board. The members of the LNI Board countered her that the LNI Board did not have a parliamentarian. She insisted that she was making that appointment. The Board rejected the appointment. A motion was made to accept her agenda. The votes were 5 to 4 against the agenda, The representative from the Corporate Alliance Board was again opposing Margaret Moran and the meeting of the LNI was cancelled.
