LULAC - Statement by the Mad Hatter Margaret Moran

The Editor: The LULAC Master Mad Hatter, Margaret Moran,  issued a statement today informing the lesser-be's of LULAC that she "wish[es] to state that the status quo of the LULAC Presidency remains and is in a staus quo pending legal clarification.  She needs to go back and take English 1301, i.e., Freshman English, because she does not know what she is saying.  It's like the Editor saying that life is status quo.  It has no meaning.

Status quo means that Maggie Rivera is the National President of LULAC.  That is status quo.  That is the reality that is on the ground.

Status quo is that Margaret Moran is no longer the national President of LULAC.

Status quo as of today is that Darryl Morin is no longer the VP for the Midwest.  He resigned his position of VP today.

Status quo is today is a new day for LULAC.  Thank the National Assembly of LULAC for exercising their supreme authority of LULAC and electing a new slate of national officers.

Margaret Moran's statement is the statement of a defeated former elected.   She abandoned LULAC at its hour of need.  She permitted the head of her Mad Hatter's team, Luis Vera, to create legal havoc with the General Assembly and LULAC.

Margaret Moran, the former National President of LULAC, did a bad job as a leader of LULAC in its time of need.  She left the dais at the convention of the LULAC National Assembly at 11:30 PM on Saturday morning.  She never returned.  She should have taken the podium and told the LULAC National Assembly that she and Manuel Escobar had been served with a TRO prohibiting herself or Manuel Escobar from allowing the Legal Advisor of LULAC from issuing any legal opinions from the Legal Advisor, Manuel Escobar, during the course of the elections for national officers.  That is all the court order restrained, nothing more.  Instead, she had Luis Vera announce to the National Assembly at 12:33 PM that a New York state court had issued a TRO.  Luis Vera said go out and return at 2:30 PM.  Before 2:30 PM arrived, that is, at about 2:15 PM, Luis Vera announced to the delegates there that the convention was being cancelled because of the court order.  The delegates, noting that Margaret Moran had not adjourned the convention of the National Assembly, continued with the meeting and elected the officers for National LULAC.

Margaret Moran should have returned to the helm, like the Captain of the Titanic, and explained to the Assembly what was happening.  Instead, she got on a life boat and left her sinking ship, along with her cohorts, Luis Vera, Manuel Escobar, Rosa Rosales,  Oscar Moran and Roger Rocha.  Roger Rocha was telling LULAC delegates from Texas who supported Maggie Rivera that he was going to let the election of Maggie Rivera stand and not offer any further challenges.

What Roger Rocha should do right now is to man up, hacerce macho, and communicate with Maggie Rivera that she is the new duly elected captain of the LULAC ship.

For him to insist that he might have won is an illusion.  He lacked about 100 delegates to win.  The picture and the video presented on this blog are evident of that reality.  A better reality are the 825 delegates who remained to continue the convention of the General Assembly in the continuation of the business of the General Assembly of LULAC, the supreme authority of LULAC.

The LULAC Constitution states under Article VI, Section I, subsection d. under Quorum, at page 11 online, that:

"The certified delegates from one third (1/3) of the active councils at the time of an annual convention or a special-called session of the National Assembly shall constitute a quorum without reference of District, State or National Officers who have a vote in sessions."

The first reading of the certifiable delegates was 1,561 delegates from councils and 64 officers.  One third (1/3) of 1,561 is 520 delegates that were needed to constitute a quorum.  825 delegates remained to continue the convention of the National Assembly, way above the minimum number specified in the Constitution to maintain a quorum.

Its time for Roger Rocha to man up, accept the defeat and try again later.

To Luis Vera and Manuel Escobar, its time to turn over the legal books of LULAC to Maggie Rivera's team.

  1. Merriam-Webster says that status quo means “the way things are now”.
Margaret Moran is not now in charge. So if we take her at her literal, written word – she’s out.
