Films & Discussion on the Chicano Movimiento

The National Chicano Moratorium Committee (NCMC) will present a free showing of Requiem 29 and 20 Years y Que, films about the August 29, 1970 NCMC march against the Vietnam War and racism which culminated with a brutal Sheriff's Department attacked on 30,000 peaceful marchers, the beating of men, women, and children alike, and the deaths of three, including Chicano LA Times and Television reporter Ruben Salazar. The event, including a panel discussion on the history and the issues, will be held on August 6, 2014 at the Los Angeles County East L.A. Library Chicano Resource Center, 4837 E Third Street, Los Angeles CA 90022, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

NCMC is also preparing for its 44^th Annual Commemoration march and rally of the 1970 event, scheduled this year at Ruben Salazar Park for August 30, 2014.

Israel Must Withdraw

It is the position of the National Chicano Moratorium Committee (NCMC) that the recent Israeli military attacks on the Palestinian people and invasion of the Gaza Strip amounts to ethnic cleansing and a historical irony that Israel commits these acts of inhumanity given what the Jewish people suffered through WWII.

The deaths of hundreds of innocent children, women, men and the elderly caused by the Israeli military must stop permanently and not just for a few hours. Since the early 1970’s NCMC has supported the Palestinian peoples Right to s\Self Determination and the establishment of a Palestinian State.

The NCMC calls for the following: 1) Permanent cease fire; 2) Complete withdrawal of all Israeli military forces from all of Palestine; 3) Stop Israeli settlements in the West Bank; 4) Recognition of Palestinians Right to Self Determination; & 5) Establishment of a Palestinian State.
